Week of March 13th

This week I got in two hot yoga classes and ran a 5K with a friend and followed that up with a 5K run/walk with a different group of ladies.

This week I got in two hot yoga classes and ran 3.82 miles with some the running group.
They ran many, many more miles than me. :) I had to turn around and head back to the car by myself because I had to squeeze in that run around the kids schedule.

More "ME" time...

Well, I did it...
I changed my hours at work so that I could have more ME time.
This week I got to 3 hot yoga sessions and ran 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym.
Oh and I attended a soccer game, and listened to a basketball game on the radio.
This has been a good week for me, so hopefully I will get more ME things accomplished and documented here.

Water tower hill...

Well this week we had games so after Monday I didn't get in any exercise. Saturday we had two games in Springfield and today we had a team meeting in Springdale. So hubby and I got up early and went for a bike ride. It was pretty windy and a little chilly for my taste, but I had cotton in my ears and layers in my back. The loop was a 20 mile loop which took us over water tower hill. Let me take you back to the last time I rode up this hill. Hubby put his hand on my back and PUSHED me up the hill. This was two years ago... and yes I recognize the studliness of the feat. Last year I rode several rides but didnt take water tower hill that direction (which means it is a steep descent). Well let me tell you that today I hammered as hard as I could and I BEAT HUBBY up the hill. Now it wasnt exactly fair because he wasnt aware we were in a race, and he syarted behind me to see if he needed to push me again, and I gave it my all and was coughing and wheezing by the time I got to the top. But I did get up the hill first.

“Seamingly” dangerous yoga moves…

I made it to hot yoga tonight... in my new tights from Wal-Mart... during the pre-stretch I looked down and noticed a string dangling from my inner thigh.  I don't know why I did it, as I look back I think, 'surely I am smarter than that'.  Yes, I grabbed the string and gave it a tug.  It pulled out all the way down the leg to just below the knee.  It didn't rip the seam completely out where you could see my flabby inner thigh, but it pulled out 1/2 the seam.  So any thread rip in that area will give me a 'coming out party'.  I was so worried about it for the thigh stretching moves.  LOL can you imagine ripping the seam out of your yoga pants in the middle of class??? I think I would rather pass out and almost throw up like I did a few weeks ago.

35 tough hilly miles

So today hubby and I tried to knock the 1st layer of ‘ick’ off the house and then decided to venture out on the bikes.  My Friday ride was rough so I was a little better prepared today with some cotton balls for my sensitive little princess ears…  So no throbbing ear drums due to the wind.  And let me tell you it was REALLY WINDY!  So ride before last hubby thought I did so well (the 40 mile ride) that he decided that I could handle a little challenge.  He took me down ‘Rally Hill’ road and let me tell you it is appropriately named.  We rode from the base of Gaither, to Valley Springs, across 65 to Rally Hill, back over to 65 at Bellfonte, rode on 65 until we caught some little road that got us off the busy highway.  (oh yea and hubby had a flat and had to change it on the side of why 65).  So then back to Union road and cross hwy 7 to Valley View Church road.
The hills were tough, the wind kicked my butt, and I don’t think I had enough calories for the output.  I did consume about 150 – 200 calories of goo and beans on the ride.
I didn’t write down the stats from the ride and the odometer is in the garage and I am too wiped to go get it…

Friday 10 mile bike ride - It started out planned to be a 20 mile ride.  I was ill dressed and the wind was WAY worse than I expected.  What is with my ears and wind?  It wasn't that it was THAT cold, it was just the wind makes my ear-drums throb.

Hot Yoga kicked my @$$

So I don't know if it was the 4 cups of coffee for breakfast...
Or maybe it was only having the meatless, dressingless salad for lunch...
Or maybe it was the two diet pepsi's...
Or maybe it was not drinking any water...
Or perhaps it was a combo of all he above.

I almost passed out in Hot Yoga tonight!

Then I stepped outside in the hallway (cold out there) and then I felt like I was going to hurl.

OMG it was rough.

Returning to the run...

It has been forever since I had gone running so LaDona and I hit the treadmills after work.  Let me say it was rough to get going!  And exciting news, the gym is getting 3 new treadmills to replace the ones that always seem to be broken...

Game day hot yoga

So I got up and made it to the 8 AM hot yoga this morning, and low and behold my 'late riser' friend was there also!  I was so shocked and excited to see her up that early just to sweat, it was great!  I wore my new Mossimo tank top from Target (it is long enough to cover the inappropriate crotch area that is overexposed in yoga tights) and my eco-friendly yoga tights.  I also tried out my new Gaiam yoga towel with rubber backing on top of my yoga mat.  It was WAY better than using the old beach towel method.  There was an attempt to get together an outside 7 mile run but the weather turned bad and started to rain so we called it off.  I guess I am going to have to get on the treadmill if I am going to get any miles in since we seem to have snow, ice and rain for several days.  Oh and Happy Birthday Melissa!!!  Settling in to watch the big game.

This week...

Ok, so I made it to Hot Yoga 2 days this week.  I didn't make it to the gym at all.  We got lots of snow here and with the install at work last weekend I just now feel like I am over the stress.  Today me and the family went shopping (we bought my 16 year old son his first formal outfit... my lil' man isn't so lil' anymore)  so I didn't get to yoga or the gym either one.  I did buy a yoga 'towel' that has rubber on one side and towel on the other that you put over your yoga mat to keep from slipping and to help soak up the massive amounts of sweat.  I plan to get up early and make it to the 8 am hot yoga so I get in some movement before the big game!!!

Work is cramping my style...

So I did NOT get to go to Hot Yoga this morning as hoped (double drat).  Also, I must confess that due to hours spent in the office for this install I ate like CRAP all weekend.  I mean hideous things that do not deserve to be written down and re-lived.  I hope that next week I can get back into the swing of things again.  I must say I am really proud I was able to squeeze that bike ride in yesterday since that was all the activiy I had since Thursday.

1st ride of the year

Well we had a huge install at work so I missed the group run at 7:30 am (drat)... And I got off work around noon so I didn't have time to make the group bike ride at 12:30 pm (drat)... So hubby and I decided to take our first road (non-trainer) bike ride of the year.  It was perfect temperature for a ride and a beautiful day.
We rode 40 miles in 2 hours and 46 minutes with avg speed of 14.42 and max speed of 45.50 (assuming this is when I was in areo-position going down water-tower hill).
I didn't have the heartrate monitor on because I hadn't readjusted the size since it fell down to my waist in hot yoga.
I am supposed to be back at work at 5:00 am so I may not get to go to Hot Yoga at 8:00 am (drat).

Sweaty Sweaty yoga hotness…

Well yesterday I stayed off the treadmill and my knee was feeling better, so I went to hot yoga after work.  IT WAS PACKED AGAIN!!!  It looks like word has gotten out about the sweaty hot greatness of the hot yoga because it was so packed last night.  I think I sweated more than ever before… lol but then again maybe I think that after each time I go.
I wanted to wear my heart rate monitor again, but right after we started it slipped down around my waist, so I ditched it.
Took an Aleve before bed last night and knee is feeling even better today.  I am still not 100%, but hoping that I can get in a long run sometime this weekend (around my work schedule for our big install).

Rookie mistake

Ok, so there were actually 2 rookie mistakes in the same day.  I wore my heart-rate monitor to hot yoga this AM and didn’t get the darn thing turned on correctly.  THEN… I went for a run and didn’t get my Garmin turned off correctly after the run was over.  I deleted everything after my 8th mile  because the info was so miss-leading.  I had a good time again at hot yoga, I felt comfortable trying out the new poses.  Yesterday I went to Target to find a yoga towel and they were sold out, so still ‘rocking’ the beach-towel look. 
The run felt really rough today and I am not sure if it was wind, route, what I had eaten, or the hour of hot yoga 4 hours earlier.  Anyway as I sit here typing this I can really feel today’s activities in my body, so that is a great thing because yesterday we were in Missouri for my daughters’ indoor soccer games, so I didn’t track my meals or get any real activity in.
